But whether you are new to my blog or a seasoned veteran, over the next four months I plan to share with you what I know best: food. Mostly from France and La Rochelle, but also any other place I happen to travel. I hope you are ready to share these experiences with me!
Here is a little bit about La Rochelle so you can get acquainted:
Here is a little bit about La Rochelle so you can get acquainted:
- La Rochelle is an old maritime city, with the majority of businesses located around Le Vieux Port.
- The buildings are very European, tall with beautiful archways and decorative trim. And of course there are many cobblestone streets.
- The port was very busy in the 12th century, and there are a LOT of pirate references here.
- I am attending a tourism program at Groupe Sup de Co La Rochelle, much like the one I study at NAU.
So now we get into the good stuff. Everyone says that France is a world leader in cuisine, so I was expecting some good stuff upon arrival. But despite all of the crêpes, sandwiches, and croissants I have eaten here so far, the first thing I want to tell you about is the marché.
This beautiful market in the heart of the Centre Ville is filled with vendors each day who sell everything you could possibly want to eat or cook with. There are countless fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, seafood items, bottles of wine, and many other delicious looking things. In both the indoor and outdoor portions of the marché, the colors and smells were spectacular. I ate a warm Nutella crêpe and walked around in adoration.

This is certainly somewhere I intend to spend my time, often. And I hope that you will too! I don't have to speediest internet here, but I hope to be able to post often regardless. Stay tuned for more pictures and more cravings.
